I will beat my ass today to kick yours tomorrow

Boldly, we strutted in.  Humbly, we crawled out.  What happened in between, you ask?

SUFFERFEST!!!!!

Last Sunday, over 20 members of the PTO Tri Club attended a Sufferfest-themed indoor cycling class at Off-Road Indoor Cycling led by our very own Colleen Matthews.

Upon entering the studio we were greeted by this:

Oh boy, were we in for a treat!   We climbed up onto our bikes as we waited for the official warmup to begin.

As you can see, we had a great turnout from the PTO Tri Club!  (Psst… see those empty bikes in the back?  Yeah, they weren’t empty a few minutes later.)

What exactly is Sufferfest?  Sufferfest is a series of cycling videos designed with one thing in mind: to make you get the most from indoor cycling training.  The way to get that is by, of course, suffering.  Their motto is, “I will beat my ass today to kick yours tomorrow”.  Charming, huh?

Our session included footage from the 2012 Tour de France, and really made us feel like we were in the race.  Well.. almost 😉   It’s great that we could pretend we’re actually racing these guys with tree-trunk legs, but then we could just hop off our bikes at the end of the session and not have to deal with road rash!

Off-Road is conveniently located near the U St. metro station in DC and offers a Sufferfest class every Sunday at 2pm.  Visit their website for more information or contact ptotriclub@gmail.com.

P.S.  The BEST post-Sufferfest snack is, in my humble opinion, the vegan chili fries at Ben’s Chili Bowl!
